Good afternoon!
Not sure if I can go yet but been invited to a fancy dress party with a sci-fi/fantasy theme. I'm stuck thinking about what characters there could be for it!
Trouble is I don't watch much TV. I've seen Buffy and Charmed in the past but they don't have costumes really. I'm considering She-Ra but would be hard to make
I'd imagine they'll be a billion Princess Leias so definitely rules her out!
Any ideas I can look into?
As a cop out I'd buy a lot of fake blood and this pushed through a top:-
Maybe not much help but you could try Barbarella. Galaxina(both old films) you could Google them for pics. Even Xena(definitely fantasy).
Trouble is, most sci-fi women's clothing is usually very sparse.
How about the blue woman from the old Star Trek?
Just what immediately came to mind. I'll try to come up with others.
You could always go as one of the Moonbase operatives from UFO with those purple wigs!
Graham.
Don't bother with the costume, just do the makeup; "Amidala on a day off"
I suggest Altaira Morbius from Forbidden Planet
Haha excellent, keep 'em coming
What about the Martian spy/assassin from Mars Attacks? Don't forget the gum!
What's wrong with another princess Leia?
Everyone usually chooses the costume from the first film (the white dress with hair buns), but maybe you could do the Endor "soldier" outfit from ROTJ ... just get a camouflage fabric and cut it to the chape of a poncho. Then you you could wear grey pants with tall boots along with it. The only real problem I could see would be the helmet and gun belt - I guess you would need to foray into an army surplus store and rig something from existing items ...
Or you could do the Ewok outfit ... that should be fairly easy to make with a couple of brown fabrics.
Oh, I love fancy dress parties! Especially at Halloween ... let's see, I've been Xena (albeit a short one), Catwoman (no, not the stupid Halle Berry outfit), and a Jedi Knight.
Fun! Fun Fun! Let me know if you need more ideas.
Well, you could try Commander Susan Ivanova from
Babylon5 as in this:

Or Delenn from the same show, post metamophosis although the bone headcrest might be difficult;

A third possibility might be one of the women from
Firefly and its spin-off movie,
Serenity. They are Zoe Washburne, the First Officer, Kaylee Frye, the ship's engineer, or Inara Serra, Captain Mal Reynolds' off & on lady friend. I suspect that you might have some difficulty playing River Tam, the teenaged weapon-girl, product of a warped technology that backfired on its creators:

Finally, you might wish to try Sub-commander T'Pol from the Star Trek spin-off,
Enterprise:

BTW, Seven of Nine's catsuit required a crew of three or more to assist her in getting in and out of it. According to an article, it presented real problems when she needed to relieve herself.

I'd have volunteered for that job.
