Hi all,

Forum newbie here.
I am on a search for some diamond twill wool in blue but red would be acceptable too. I am looking for a supplier that's preferably in the EU to avoid the hefty import taxes our loving UK government slaps on all postage imports!

Any help, pointers etc gratefully received Big Grin
There are a couple of suppliers that are at re-enactor markets that are good and knowledgeable - the ones that we've used are

Bernie the Bolt - he attends many events as a trader, doesn't have a website, if you try googling him you may get his details up.

Ali at Herts fabrics www.hertsfabrics.co.uk/ another trader at events who often has a good range.

Our very own Peroni here on RAT often has fabrics in too, so see what he's got.

Hope that helps.....

Diamond twill wool fabric is extremely hard to get hold of! It's extremely elusive in the UK it would seem. Louise M. has been after some for ages!

Cezary (also in the RAT marketplace) can get it woven for you though!

Hi

As Peroni says diamond twill is a pain to get hold of. only person i have seen it with (other than Cazary who doesn't seem to be able to supply it any more) is Dave Rushworth (trades as "Petty Chapman" http://www.pettychapman.co.uk/ ). Though it may be worth trying Stuart Peachey ( http://www.stuart-hmaltd.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ ) as he may have something (expect to pay in excess of £10-15 from either Dave or Stuart.

How much are you looking for, we were in conversation with a mill to get some done up. If you can tip us over the edge on the minimum order it might become feasable (iirc that will be in the £20 per meter territory, undyed).

Well, I await my order from Cezary......can't even remember if diamond twill was one of them or not now :? ? ?
Thank you all for your responses Big Grin I'm not the only one after some, I have a friend in Vicus who also is in search of the elusive fabric!

Actually, I'm kicking myself at the moment. In Leicester market in the summer one of the fabric sellers had an entire bolt of yellow diamond weave twill made by a handweaver in Scotland. I made a mental note to buy some - and then completely forgot about it till it was too late Grrrrr

I have to be quick too around here - I am in competition with an unknown Roman and Viking group who buy everything authentic that isnt nailed down at the market - recently someone bought an entire bolt of waxed linen at £4 a meter...

I'll chase some people up - I spoke to all the traders above at the most recent trader's fair and none of them had any Cry
I suppose you dont recall the Scottish weavers name?
Is anyone still looking for this? I'm going to have some in stock before christmas Smile
Hi Chayene!
Please tell me, do you have your own HP? Are your items/will be your items hand-woeven?
Is the textile of your new red-military tunic handwoven? If this is the fact - i will maybe order one item in Dezember (when i get some safer money but now in moment i am broken; in Dezember i get from our tablet-weaverin Ginger/Boii Pannonia ab 9,5 m band for my celtic Lt A jacket, too).
Here one HP from Germany:

You would almost certainly need to arrange your own dying but aiden campbell (time warp textiles) may well be able to help you. UK based but he is not cheap I'm afraid.

Joze

1 inch = 2,54 cm
1 Yard (yd) = 91.44 Centimeters (cm)
