I have already seen station personnel at the train station in Arnhem riding up and down the platforms on one of these on at least several occasions. I guess I know where the Dutch railway puts their money when they aren't buying new trains...

Perhaps we all ought to buy those Segways, because they can never be more unreliable than the Dutch railroad. Cry
OMFG!!
You mean Alles Nicht in Ordnung with Dutch railways? Over here European trains have the reputation of being utterly reliable.
Jona, you're being a whiner.

Well, they are usually safe, but the overcrowded trains are now less clean or on schedule than they used to be; the statistics of Dutch "trains delayed" were greatly improved when they decided no longer to count trains that did not run at all.

The main point, however, is: WHERE does a train not run? If one train in the overpopulated west does not run, thousands of travelers suffer; if one train in the more quiet east is delayed, only a few dozens. So, the railroad company say "78% run on time", which means "we do not count trains that do not run at all" and "almost 95% of the travelers experience problems".

Go west, young man, go west...

No....... unfortunately the last time Dutch trains were actually on-time was in 1944........

I take you don't count the UK as a part of Europe? A wet leaf falls on the tracks and everything stops. Signal failures and broken down trains must account for delays and cancellations at least every third journey I make into Central London. And when it snows, oh boy...

Well indeed my experiences with trains in the UK made me like the Dutch train system much much more....

since no where in the world we know today services are SO UTTERLY AND MASSIVELY BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and even lethal at times!!!!
