Hello all,

As written in my introduction i have a deep interest in the Eastern Roman Empire, or more popular the Byzantine empire of the 9th and 10th century.
I am looking for people that can help me on my way, off course i have the the guides made by Timothy Dawson and books.
But i am mainly looking for people that can direct me to traders who sell items such as belt buckles and ornaments, other metal basic items such as cutlery and stuff that a normal civilian/traveler or simple soldier would have used.

Clothing i can make myself, but metal items not.
Also i am looking for a nice Byzantine 10th century Spatha or sword.

I hope someone can help me out, as i want to make a simple but authentic Byzantine impression.

Thanks,

Sjoerd van de Wal
I'm not sure where you live, but you can check out HR Replikate. They sell tons of different kinds of belt buckles and brooches and militaria and other items. You can find something from the specific period you're looking for.

I'm not sure who in Europe sells "Byzantine" weapons and armor. SOTW here in the US has the Concentric Banded Helmet. You can try Celtic Web Merchant

http://www.celticwebmerchant.com/en/

For clothing, go with Medieval Design:

If they don't have it, I'm pretty sure they can make it.

A lot of what you're looking for, though, will have to be custom.
Longbranch Reenactment has the middle byzantine belt buckle, a cloak clasp and fork that Birka Traders used to make. http://www.longbranchreenactment.com/
Ares Academy makes a byzantine sword:

Avalon shop/Avalonsibyl sells some accurate helmets, you can even choose the thickness of the metal and finish.
