I have looked in the database area and I have also searched the site and seem unable to find any reference to a sword database.

If there isn't one somewhere on RAT, may I please ask if anyone knows of a good resource elsewhere?

I was very priviledged to see an astonishing Late Roman/Early Saxon (?) sword today (sorry, no pictures) and I'm far too impatient to wait for some specialist to get around to seeing it and finally writing a report! (which will no doubt be added to the Grey Literature and not published  )
There is none on Romanarmy.com

However, there is a good reference book for Roman swords:
Christian Miks - Studien zur römischen Schwertbewaffnung in der Kaiserzeit.

Wow!

That's certainly detailed - thanks Jurjen. I am just plucking up the courage to see how much it costs!!

Edited to add: <gulp> That's the equivalent to three months shoeing for my neddy! If not four months... Confusedhock:

Oooh, a new one? AFAIK, the only British one is the Feltwell sword, which has been published (assuming you're in the UK).
I'm in the UK and ...there are THREE Confusedhock:

The closest comparisons I can find are in the Illerup catalogue; and you kindly put photos up some time ago, so thank you.
