Is it right that the Romans even until the Third Punic war considered tehy Carthage as a potential threat to them? Which ancient authors (besides Cato) wrote about it? Are there any modern researches on this theme?
Best and up-to-date book about Carthage and Rome I read in some time is
"Carthage must be detroyed - The rise and fall of an ancient civilization" by Richard Miles (2010)
You can read also a good book on the subject: THE REPUBLICAN ROMAN ARMY a sourcebook by Michael M.Sage.
