I normally define myself as a late Roman cavalryman of the Taifali from the 4th century A.D. But I'm lucky enough to get paid for dressing up

I did have 4th century cavalry in mind in these shots. You will recognise much of the equipment recomended by Xenophon, such as the kopis, boots and boeotian helmet. But I was also thinking of Aristophanes mentioning an Athenian officer with a pilos helmet in his Lysistrata. I wore a thick heavy goat hair kilim because we wrote about them earlier in the thread. The spear and javelin were grabbed from the equipment room in haste.

The thorax is the one I posted up in reply to you in the linothrorax thread. I suspect a copper alloy cuirass would have been more common, and I'm working on that. But I fear I prefer the short-waisted type common from the mid 4th century, since I believe it will be easier to get a good fit on both myself and others.
