Paul,I agree a very small point would be more practical in a sarissa,and this is what Swcunda is suggesting.Conolly shows thin and long sarissa heads.To come to the actual finds,in the Vergina museum they display those very long heads as the sarissa points.There are also many long but wider and earlier spear heads that are identified as hunting spears.The long-narrow blade looks better than the small one on the sarissa,but one would expect that they'd want to keep the point of balance near the bottom...
