Quote: Kurt, that looks like the Deepeeka aichme on your pike. Is it? I had one, but ground it down to a better shape and gave it to a big, strong lad for a Viking spear. It's much too heavy. According to Connolly ("Greece and rome at War"), sarissa aichme were quite tiny, like the Manning Dory tips.
Makes sense to me. I got a spear from Poland for £10 which has a very small, sharp head, ideal for this purpose; I must try to get some more. the counterpoise looks good, though; where did you get it?
You are right Paul it's a Deepeeka on my pike and it's to heavy. Well. according to the orgininals as I've seen in Vergina, the spearhead should have at least 40 - 50 cm. How long are yours from Poland? If they fit I will be very interested in 2 of them. I let the counterpicse made by a blacksmith here in Germany.
