#1
Hi
I found 2 roman swords in the last 4 month in differenrt places in Israel, in the sea - around 5 meter deep by snorkeling. Both are amazingh conditions . I reported report IAA and i show them the location and we pulled them togather.
I will be happy is someone can tell me what type of sword and how old they can be. thank you very much

The stone looks as if it's about 80mm across, so it maybe weighs around 1 kilogram?
This would be roughly 3 minai (Greek weight) or 4 librae (Roman weight). (Stones of this size were not too small to be shot from a ballista.)
But it seems to have XX engraved on it.

Both look like Mainz pattern swords, at a stab possibly late 1st BC up to mid 1st AD the scabbard can give a better date if it is still intact. Fantastic find well done.  Big Grin

Well you learn something new everyday  Big Grin I work lead quite a bit and have studied stoves but never come across this type with water in I can see how it works but heat and lead  Huh  anyway thanks for the information just keep it comeing. Here is a stove I made from Pompeii which in some way thought of this type or terracotta being used.
