pan flute
#1
Hi

I'm looking for something to do between performances when off duty. i was thinking about buying myself a pan flute. I've read that this is for a "common man's instrument" so i'm sure that this is something I can do as a Roman soldier too. does someone know where I can get a decent and authentic looking one? Is it easy to learn to play the pan flute? i'm sure i'll need practice first but i'm not afraid of doing so. Big Grin

Try Benjamin Simao of Atelier Tri Nox Samoni
http://www.trinoxsamoni-lutherie.fr/

Benjamin makes very good instruments and also knows his stuff, giving living history music performances as well.

Salve Quintus Aurelius Lepidus !

We found many 5, 6 or more holes Syrinx and it was played by professional but also common player since Bronze age and even before.
A 7 holes Syrinx like this one for example : http://www.panflutejedi.com/swiss.html , was played easily.
It was a kind of Primitive Harmonica, and a real instrument for an itinerant guy.

I'm a music instrument maker and i'm working on Wind & stringed instruments for early music.
If you have a special project, we can talk about it !
Feel free to ask me by email ([email protected])
