Castra Aestiva VIII Tillsonburg, Ontario Canada May 4 and 5 2013

I wanted to remind everyone that Castra Aestiva VII I is approaching. This year the event will be held on the first weekend in May. The event is located just south of Tillsonburg in Ontario which is 2 hours drive from Port Huron or 3 hours from Detroit and about 2hours from Buffalo. (Google earth 42.46.17 N 80.41.33 W). The event features a recreated Roman fort. This year we will be focusing on tactical maneuvers and fighting as single entity in battle formation. The event also involves military leadership, attack on the fort, black smiting, patrols, drill, archery, pilum, sling and group tactics training. We are planning a fort build day on April 13 -14. At this time we will be completing the Principia and working on the corner towers and starting the Celt round house.
