Well, you better visit the 'Museum fur antike Schiffart' in Mainz and get the scientific publications by Ronald Bockius as a start.

.... two further projects spring to my mind:
1. The "mother of all lusoria projects" at the Regensburg University (Prof.Dr.Hoeckmann; Prof. Schäfer et al)
http://books.google.de/books?id=G0AjqbZu...ne&f=false
I think cajusbeerquitius/Christian should know a number of participants here personally,
--if I'm not too wrong. (>Regensburg!!)
2. The Germersheim project with Professor Schäfer
here: (2nd and last project from top)
http://www.antike-multimedial.de/222.0.html
http://www.kreis-germersheim.de/roemersc...enana.html
http://www.kreis-germersheim.de/projektteam.html
http://www.mit-im-boot.de/
3. I'm not sure whether there was a Hamburg lusoria project with Prof.Dr. Schäfer involved.
Hope this helped.

Coincidental timing! I've been discussing the same idea with some friends
A fee days back! Something I have long wanted to do!
Good luck!

Byron, you should do a search in the UK then. I know there is a team somewhere near Dover with serious ideas to rebuilt a ship for the classis brittanicae.

Jurjen,

Give us a clue! I've identified a boat builder near where I live who built these boats for the Robin Hood film.

Funding it is another issue though....... Sad

There sre more pics on the link above the photo.
They took it out of the water.

Some of the guys in our group know the people who run this thing so I can try and get more info on it if you want.

I can also translate the German if needed.

Well, the RAT conference a couple of year ago was in the hotel accross the street of that museum Big Grin Anyway, as some people are going, I will join. The Mainz has a couple of wonderful musea, and I need to revisit Bad Kreuznach as well.
