Pictures of new custom Sagum
#1
Hi All,

I thought i'd post some pictures here of the Sagum that I recently made for Doc (Alfredo) for his educational work he does.

It is a hand woven 2/2 diamond twill piece 2.5 x 1.5m in dimension. I have dyed the colth with woad and fringes have been painstakingly added to the short sides. a blanket stitched edge has been added to the long side as it was cut from the loom without a salvedge. This is a way to add a salvedge without having to roll the hems over. The thread from creating the fringe was used as the yarn for the salvedge ...so it matches really nice

I enjoyed making this, its also very warm for use as a winter blanket!

Very beautiful work. That fringe twisting/tying goes slowly, doesn't it? But it is worth it in the end. I'll bet that's a warm wrap, too.

Hi Claire,

Lovely work, I hope to order something made by you when I need some Roman clothing in the future. I was wondering, why don't you actually have your own subforum in the Marketplace?

Yes in terms of recent activity and new products you should rate a place in the subforums over the ones who haven't bothered to post sales or new products or haven't had any reviews in over a year!
