The best place to start is probably the sources ! e.g. Tacitus 'Annals' II.10....readily available as a 'Penguin' classic in paperback in English......

Tacitus' account is in Annals 2.16-18. (The old Church & Brodribb translation has "Idistavisus", but it's usually known as Idistaviso.)
