Greetings. I've been trying to fill out my bookshelf recently, because I have plenty of stuff on the Bronze Age right up through the Roman Republic until the time of Caesar, but then I have a big gap from that point up until the Dark Ages. I don't have much on the peak and the fall of Rome.
But now I'm curious about the barbarian invasions. I would especially like to read about:
- the Vandals
- the Saxons and other western Germanic tribes
- the Huns
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I was going to order The Invasion of Europe by the Barbarians by J. B. Bury. But I see it's from 1928. Does anybody know if this is still worth reading, or if it's outdated at this point?
