Believe me the plastic water bottles were necessary..not everyone bought canteens....

There were even soldiers in plastic armour, so a modern water bottle is allowed I think!

But was it ancient water? That's the real issue, isn't it?

AMICE,
as the rest of the vexillationes of the LEGIO XI CPF You were invited, I think, but I do understand that the trip for you is not so simple.
Anyway as I will be in charge from the invitations (this year I only gave the names of the groups to invite) next year you can be sure that the GSR will invite even the LEGXI CPF from the US!

As about the drums, I know that there are no evidences about the use of TIMPANA in the Roman Army but, belive me sometimes it is necesseary when You have about 1000 people marching, especially if your task is to OPEN the parade.

Last thing, about plastic stuff used by some groups, this huge parade is even for folkloristic groups (for now) and not only re-enactment groups so sometimes we have to accept this kind of groups that anyway are at the very bottom of the parade!!
