Ave,
My name is Olivier, I am a 34 years old graphic designer living in Geneva, Switzerland.
I found this place a week ago, after a casual discussion with a LARP fellow (we do mostly fantasy-medieval and XIXe) about how amazing it would be to try and play a band of legionaries lost in the moutains, with a walk in full gear, a camping night, a vicious barbarian attack, a nice meal around the fire after that…
Long story short, I have now already spent a indecent amount of the previous days reading threads here, bookmarking sites, educating myself on the differences between helmets types, archeological sewing, ordering books about Roman Military Clothing (yeah, I know, I am a bookaholic…). I think I am hooked, it has deeply revived my early love story with Ancient times (I studied Latin and Greek in middle and high school, although not much has actually remained in memory…) and I am strongly interested in learning more and trying re-enactment.
I am not set on a period, segmentata and fur pelts have a strong appeal, but the delicate embroidered tunics and the shield patterns of the late period talk more to my designer side…
Thank you all for the marvelous wealth of information and advices, I feel I will like this place.
