I like it. Was the battle Salamis?
I was also wondering what the image on the Greek Shield to the right was.

Yes Salamis it is
The emblem actually it appears in:
a. pottery fragment in the British museum
b. cylix Hermitage museum
c. coins in the Newell collection New York.
d. pottery fragments in auction sites.
It defined the simple members of the Philaeidae fratria who boasted many chariot race winners.

Just one random combination(out of many possible) of panoplia on archaic and early classical hoplite.
This is a screenshot of an unfinished interactive program(I would not call it a game) where all parts of armor, weapons, clothing, add ons(olive wrath,crests...) are movable and interchangeable...so you could explore at least part of a huge variety in equipment and looks among ancient hoplites, and look a little bit further than certain book publishers, and channels..even reenactors. For instance low tin bronze (yellowish golden) was as we can see a minority among lots of dark bronze (aka 20% ish content bronze) armor pieces, especially helmets.
UPDATE 06.2010:
All parts of armor are museum pieces. I did some heavy research and concluded that I did wrong in depicting full muscle curiass for time of Persian invasion.I fixed that.
All best
