as far as i know what your discribing sounds correct to me.

here u can see it hooked by the back ring and around my neck. to put it on i just untie it, feed each side of the leather to the cheekplate rings and tie them. ya ir rubs a tad on your neck, but this is the roman legion after all, no whining ehhehe jk
