Late Roman event at Archeon, The Netherlands, July 30/31st

Website: [url:3v4ji9g0]http://www.fectio.org.uk/groep/lateroman.htm
Archeon: http://www.archeon.nl/intro_uk.htm

Current participants are:
Fectio (NL) http://www.fectio.org.uk/fectio.htm
I Germanica (E) http://www.primagermanica.com
I Minerva (GE) http://www.legioprima.de/Ubersicht/Proj ... ntike.html
II Herculia (F/B) http://users.swing.be/stephane/herculiani.htm
Batavi (UK)
Exculcatores Votadini (NL)
Dun Gwalch (GE)
Fectio (NL) http://www.fectio.org.uk/
Foederati (F) http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/foederati/index.jhtml

As well as individuals from several other groups.
Planned shows for this event for now include a drill of all soldiers, a battle between either two Roman groups or of Romans vs. Germans, an artillery demonstration, plumbatae throwing, gladiatorial combat and civilian camp life.

I've so far counted 8 Herculiani, 7 Foederati, 7 Minervii, 6 Germanicani, 4 Batavi (maybe bringing 3 more), 4 Merovingians (maybe 6), 2 Fectienses, 2 Exculcatores, 1 from Legio Secunda Augusta.
That would make 41, possibly 45.
If some others may decide to come as well, that number could reach 43.

This is the park:

Robert, is there an overlap with the yearly event of the British contingent? Good occasion for the Annual RAT dinner?
Greets!

Well, the Brits start arriving a few days later. Only Godfrey will be joining us.

But of course, if Graham and the others come a few days earlier they can enjoy our great show!
AND we could have that RAT dinner...

Ironically, I had my early fourth century gear on last weekend and had to hand the helmet and shield back into the group's store at the end. I might have tried to make it otherwise (although my wife has other plans).

Hi Damianus,
Posting images on RAT or RA.com (read the faq there) is very easy. On RAT, you just click the Img button while typing your post, then type the URL of the photo and then click the Img button again. And done!

In the meantime, Godfrey is trying to defend the honour of us late Romans amidst a sea - well, that's stretching it a bit, let's say a lake - of 1st century Romans in Archeon. As can be seen on this picture taken today, as I, Chariovalda, was re-enacting (badly) an early 21st century tourist (people were asking why I didn't wear my "normal clothes" ):

He badly needs reinforcements... 8)
Well, I suspect I can speak for the whole 70-odd of us, that we're still there - in spirit!

It\'s all an accident, an accident of hands. Mine, others, all without mind, from one extreme to another, but neither works nor will ever.
