New forum/Community

If I knew what a "group discussion" was it may be better. I'm still trying to find the forum!

Uhmm, John, you're on the forum! The more conventional look can be found under the 'Index'-tab, at the top left.
Group discussions are a private discussion option in the Community.
Greets!

Cheers Jurjen!8-)

John, to me that 'community' looks like a good overview of the status of the board, at a glance. I see what you mean by it looks like FB, but, it can just be used as a quick browser to quickly get to a subject, or a phots, or specific piece of info maybe?

It can be as much or as little as you want it to be, I think.
didn't see the 'be my friend' button though!

Ahh, now I can emphathise with John, I think. I can see the really important info will be discussed out of sight, much like individuals used the PM's, which will be a shame, as a great deal of info was to be gleaned from some of the open 'discussions'!:-?

I thought it made sense too, so that option is now off. Group owners can still post announcements to their group, but discussions will have to take place here. I'll look at the possibility of having a more direct link between groups and the forum too.
Greets!

The great strength of RAT was the open discussions on the forum. The facebook idea of groups, boards, friends etc. weakens the focus of discussion. I think some RATers do that sort of thing already on facebook, which is a shame since they don't share their views on RAT.

But the good news is I found the discussion forum. I am trying to ignore the messages telling me "Bill has uploaded a new avatar" and "Fred wants to be my friend". Nice one Fred!

Wow! Quite a change but so swiftly done and painless (for us users anyway).

Thank you Jasper and all the Backroom Boys. Red and black is so much easier on the eye;-)

Ok...biff question number one.

How do I get the PM icon to appear on my profile? Can't see an obvious way of doing it...but I did say it was a biff question!:-D

In someones profile there is a text saying 'write message'. In the forum on the left the is a sign of a text-balloon to send someone a PM.

biff question number 2:

Can I stay logged in and just go to the forum from my "favorites" tab, like I used to? Not doing that now...

Am I supposed to log out at the end of a session?

Some remarks:

- the forum is extremely slow
- is there a way in which the latest post in a thread is on top?
- every post seems to take lot of space
- I can't delete a post: I'm taken to a new empty page [edited: the post I wanted to delte is gone - did I dlete it after all? No conformation was asked]
- where can I alter my signature?

- Slowness may be due to the 'SEO' component that rewrites 'ugly' links into pretty ones. I'll turn it off and we'll see what happens.
- SEO component may also cause the problem with deleting posts.
- Space: that's just the layout. Feel free to hire someone to write a better template
- Signature: Forum Profile and signature
- Latest post: you can set your post order in your own profile.
Greets!
