The Livius Lectures; 15 October 2006
#1
On Sunday 15 October, the biannual Livius Lectures will be held in the Flemish Cultural Center "De Brakke Grond" in Amsterdam (Nes 43-45). It is the official opening of my little private school, which, as you may have guessed, is called Livius.

Program:
  • 14.00 First lecture, by Mr. D. Praet (university of Ghent): the conversion of the Roman Empire
    15.00 Pause
15.30 Presentation of our new journal, Momentum
Second lecture, speaker not yet known: the origin of the Language Boundary
16.45 A brief presentation of our future plans
Entrance is free; however, you are allowed to leave some money to pay for the speaker and the rent of the theater hall. If there is money left, it will be given to the Life Lines Foundation, which tries to help students in countries like Iraq.

Livius Lectures are usually nice events; among the speakers are such illustrous scholars like Jasper Oorthuys.
