War/Battle you would like to be made into a HISTORICAL FILM
#1
BY HISTORICAL FILM I MEAN A FILM WITH GOOD HISTORICAL ACCURACY, IF THAT IS POSSIBLE THESE DAYS.

My choices for the war/battles I would like to see adapted into a movie, would be the battle of thermopolye and the peloponessian war. These are two very concievable works. They have a great book they can base it off of in The Gates of Fire by Richard Preston I think it was, correct me if I'm wrong. It would be just a single battle with the obvious aftermath, but this would make a great film, just as long as Wolfgang Peterson doesn't get his hands on it, need I mention Troy. The Peloponessian War has countless books written about it.
Inkerman has my vote! But not another British Propaganda film, please, anyone who studies the battle realizes the British were "cold whupped", until the French came and saved the day!
well somebody here claimed that he wanted to write a script for a film about the -Clades Variana- in 9 AD and others even took that serious.
---------------
Thermopyle would be a good choice. It has been done before, but could use a good re-do, as it were.

Steven Pressfield's book could act as a good souce. In fact, I saw a pre-publication manuscript of that book with a cover sheet indicating that the film rights had in fact already been optioned by George Clooney's production company. That was some years ago, and nothing as yet has come of it. Perhaps Mr. Clooney will yet do this film, or he will let the option lapse and let someone else do it.

The Varius 'Disaster' would make an interesting film, but my vote would be for the Siege of Jerusalem and the Jewish revolt of the 60's using Josephus as the source (acknowledging the problems inherent there in). I know that a TV mini-series has been done on Masada, but not the revolt itself and in fact, the story might work better on TV where more time can be spent on the story. I doubt that two or even three hours would do the story of the revolt justice, and though TV does not have the visual impact of film, projected larger than life, a well written limited series could be quite good indeed.

Of course, such an undertaking will cost money, perhaps a lot of money, but if Alenander should do well, and given the relatively good return on Troy, then maybe someone will think the story worth the money.
Hadrianus - I won't bore you with the details of my personal life, but there are good reasons that "Clades Variana" has been the the backburner the last ten months or so, along with a number of other projects. I am still working on it in fits and starts; both on the script on and the site. Your interest in that project, and that of other people, has always been appreciated, and when the site is updated you will be the first to know.

Your understanding would also be appreciated.
i have a good idea for a movie: its about a general who becomes a gladiator and then kills the emperor.

Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings -- they did it by killing all those who opposed them.
Didn't they do the whole general becoming a slave and overcoming the odds to kill the empereor before? Or maybe it was all just a dream.
THERE IS NO VICTORY WITHOUT DEFEAT, AND THERE IS NO DEFEAT WITHOUT VICTORY

I would go for the Iceni/Eceni revolt of AD60/61, but unfortunately it looks as if Hollywood have already got their grubby little hands on that one.

Matt, in your Tunic Colour War film, can I get to play the part of the general leading the army wearing tunics the colour of the diestuffs in the places they were made against the army wearing red and white stripes?
