Hi, I was wondering if anyone could paste passages from texts where the writer specifically named a legionary or centurion for their deeds.
Thanks,
Chris

"And the four bare walls stand on the seashore. a wreck a skeleton a monument of that instability and vicissitude to which all things human are subject. Not a dwelling within sight, and the farm labourer, and curious traveller, are the only persons that ever visit the scene where once so many thousands were congregated." T.Lewin 1867

Famously from Livy, Spurius Ligustinus, who even gets his own extended speech.

One of my favorite stories comes from Cassius Dio, during Trajan's Parthian Campaign. A Centurion named Sentius went as an envoy to Adenystrae, where he was imprisoned. When the Roman Army marched towards the stronghold, Sentius organized his fellow prisoners and broke out of jail, killed the garrison commander and opened the gates for the Romans.
