Where would one get an accurate Roman helmet (Gallic G or similar) that's custom made so that it actually fits (the Deepeeka ones don't). It has to be affordable though, preferably below € 500 and EU-based.
Does such a thing exist? So far I've found the Pustelak brothers; their helmets look beautiful but I'm not sure whether I can afford the price. Most other smiths I've heard of are US-based so the shipping costs and import tax will add too much.

A good question. Have you contacted White Rose Armoury in the UK? The last time I discussed a project with them they were in your price range. BUT we are talking about a two or even three piece helmet, not one piece raised from a single sheet of metal.
As far as I know, there's not a single US or Canada based helmet maker taking orders. If there is a new person please share!
You can also do a brass G from a Russian or Ukrainian artisan, some are very good, that would probably be one piece and in your price range.
Have you considered asking an artisan to take a Deepeeka and modify it to fit your needs? I have an old Mark Morrow modified Deepeeka and it's pretty good.
Finally, for €500 you might be able to get a used custom helmet as that's a decent amount of money.

I don't know much about White Rose Armoury, but their work looks nice and their prices seem ok. Can you see on the outside that it's a two or three piece helmet? And what do you guys think about the Roman helmets that they're showing on
this page?
Modifying a Deepeeka sounds kinda tricky to me. At least, mine fits so bad that I doubt anything can be done to make it fit.

If its well done I dont think you should be able to tell if its pieces welded together or not except maybe from the inside, the main difference would be it should be a custom fit and likely much thicker material then a spun helmet would be.... they look fine too me, though I dont claim any special knowledge on the type.
just my 2cents...

I have a White Rose Imperial Gallic 'F'. It is actually my helmet that is shown in the link to White Rose, listed as WRH11(3), although nearly two decades later it no longer looks quite so pristine. It is made in three parts (neck guard and the bowl in two halves). They did tell me when I bought it (nearly twenty years ago now) that they could do them in one piece but would need to charge around double the amount for the extra time and effort involved. I bought it then for £295 but I think the price is now somewhere around £550. The join of the neck guard to the bowl is invisible from the outside and the mig-welding which joins the two halves is very well done (the only member of the public who has ever noticed [as far as I know] that it is made from two halves tuned out to be a metalurgical chemist). I do have to make sure that the join is well rust proofed though, as it tends to rust faster then the rest of the helmet when it gets wet, making the join obvious. The chaps at White Rose have an original copy of Robinson, which they use as a pattern book. If you wanted a copy of a helmet which has been published since 1975 therefore, you would need to send them pictures of it from several angles.
