@ Titus Aetius and Ludens: guys, the 'New Recruits' thread is hardly the right place to discuss the political situation of Belgium or the netherlands.
Please also refrain from posting modern political viewpoints on RAT. If you want to discuss the history of how Belgium, the different language zones etc. were formed, please do it in the Off Topic section.

We stand corrected (Marcus, I humbely salute your wisdom  )! The main issue is that I welcome Titus and all the other new recruits to RAT (I juste got carried away by my enthousiasm) and I hope to see the rest of Legio XI here 2 some day....
May Mars bless all new recruits!

Ave,
I’m a student at the age of 17 Live in Brisbane, Australia final year of school (year 12), most likely of to university soon to study Journalism / Politics.
I have an avid interest in history especially Rome in the mysterious 3rd AD Century have since I was young...er unfortunately I’ve had trouble finding other people with my interests in my community lol considering the majority of chat around here involves sport. Which is great but can get tiring to talk about all day
It’s an avid ambition of mine when I have a stable job to join a re-enactment group there are a few around in Queensland mainly far north of me though. Anyways thought I’d say hi and try to make my way up and earn the respect of my grizzled veterans

Welcome James to the RAT forum!
I hope you are able to get involved with a group soon. I'm starting a group here in Oregon( XIIII legion, 50-60AD), as there are no active groups to join. We have 4 members now, slowly getting our kit togeather, so it will take some time before we become operational. We want to make sure we get everything right.
Again, welcome.

Welcome James !!
Nice to see a fellow Briz-vegan here !
You will learn much and hopefully enjoy more here - even if the "mysterious third century" tends to stay that way

Salve, James! Just by being around and reading what others have to say, you'll learn a lot about your period of interest. It's working out that way for me; I haven't reenacted before, but am getting into the mindset from what I read here. Welcome!

Hi everybody,
My name is J.-Marc and I live in the south of France, not so far from the Italian border.
My first step in the reenactment world was in American civil war, 15 years ago, but now, I am XIIIe century medieval reenactor and since two or three years, begin to have interest in Roman army reenactments.
As I am not yet a Roman reenactor, I have a lot of things to learn and think this forum is the good place for that !

Thank-you !
Oh yes, I am sure of that ! I read this forum since several weeks and it is very interesting !
As my first interest as a reenactor is how to make the basics garments, for example, I had learn a lot here on how to make a simple tunic for 1st century AC, without sleeves, and so on...
If I need something, I search...and found it !!!
Also, the Roman helmet database is very very interesting !!!!!!! fabulous !!! D shock:

After years of procrastinating, I have recently joined the world of living history reenacting, with focus on Republican & Imperial Rome. Just joined Nova Roma & am awaiting citizenship. Made contact with local groups(CaliforniaRomana, Legio X Fretensis & the newly forming Legio V Macedonia). At present, I lack almost everything in the way of gear & clothing, but am busy making a civilian outfit to wear to the Roman encampment at the Pleasanton Highland Games. I will make extensive use of the know-how available on this site, & offer my own skills to the betterment of this mutual endeavor. I am primarily an artist by trade, specialising in fine art calligraphy., though I have many other practical skills as well...I can make many things...looking forward to attending a fabrica. Blessings to all,
Vale,
Licinius
