#1
Hi, I want to share this new I casually find on internet

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/a...itain.html

The helmet was buried around 43 AD in Hallaton, Leicestershire.

Sadly not a new find. Here's a link to the museum website
Moi Watson

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

This helmet was extensively discussed here:

Don't fret, I searched 'Halloaton' as well, knowing we discussed it, and came up empty. I then assumed the name had not been used before.

I searched 'hallaton' (I'm too lazy to put in capital letters!) and up it came. I tried it again just now and it did it again. The old thread title has Hallaton spelled with an upper-case 'H' but the search function seems to think it is lower-case. It's very odd.

No matter if I type 'Hallaton' or 'hallaton', the only result I get is the new thread by Alberto.

Now, if I use Google and type 'Roman army talk Hallaton' I get

http://www.romanarmytalk.com/rat/17-roma...elmet.html

and

http://www.romanarmytalk.com/rat/17-roma...pdate.html

and on page 2

http://www.ancient-warfare.org/rat/17-ro...elmet.html (this current one).

(oddly, I don't have to login again for these links but I do for one that links to page 5 of the top link). :|

I declare Google the winner. Perhaps we can remove the search function here? Wink

I have tried again and you are right. Upper or lower case for the 'h' does not matter; it works for both. The crucial point is the period you are searching. If you search 'A year ago and newer', you will get only Alberto's thread. If you search 'A year ago and older', you will get the previous discussion and, if you go back through the pages, earlier threads on the same subject. If you search 'All dates', you will get both.
