Re: Quiz - Gaius Julius Caesar - 12-18-2012 Thanks for your patience and understanding gentlemen! This body of water is not worth sailing to war on, But in war it would be worth a thousand ships! Re: Quiz - Flavivs Aetivs - 12-18-2012 Uh... a well? I suck at these things lol. I don't know anything about archaeological sites. Is it in greece? Quiz - PhilusEstilius - 12-19-2012 Thinking about 1,000 ships could it be a well at Troy. Re: Quiz - Vindex - 12-19-2012 Quote: I suck at these things lol. I don't know anything about archaeological sites. But its a good way to learn, don't you think? Re: Quiz - Flavivs Aetivs - 12-19-2012 True. I'm thinking maybe the bay of lepanto? OR maybe actium. Re: Quiz - D B Campbell - 12-19-2012 Quote:This body of water is not worth sailing to war on,Looks like Greece, maybe the Peloponnese. Could it be a Mycenaean citadel? I'll go for Mycenae (although I don't remember seeing a well like that). Re: Quiz - Gaius Julius Caesar - 12-19-2012 Well, Brian was on the right track, but the wrong side. Duncan, yes, you are Spot on! This well/cistern, is actually right outside the entrance to the stairs to the underground cistern, IIRC, these pics are a few years old. There is another entrance through the citidel walls from the small courtyeard this well and the underground cistern entance are in, I guess an escape/sally port. I expected you to say that it was maybe Tiryns. (Hmm, there's an idea ... ;-) ) Re: Quiz - Flavivs Aetivs - 12-19-2012 Cool. I never would have guessed. Re: Quiz - D B Campbell - 12-20-2012 Quote:Over to you. This column didn't always sit on an elephant's back. Where is it and what building did it (probably) come from? The obelisk probably from Egypt or transported by the Romans from there or from the Issis - Minerva temple that was somewhere near(guessing). It's an Egyptian obelisk supposedly marking the general area of Domitian's Temple of Isis, behind the Pantheon in Rome. Re: Quiz - Tormenta - 12-20-2012 It shouldn't be difficult. What and where? I already posted something similar earlier this year. Re: Quiz - M. CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 12-20-2012 Roman Wall in Emona/Ljubljana, Slovenia?
