Deepeeka Pompeii Gladius - Adam Carr - 09-26-2006 I've just received one today from a subsidiary company. Please tell me that I'm wrong but do they make them with plastic grips? I've paid $300AUS for it and I'd like it to be as realistic as possible, not to mention not being able to use it as a re-enactor. Re: Deepeeka Pompeii Gladius - Marcus Mummius - 09-26-2006 Their grips sometimes look like plastic but I'm pretty sure real deepeeka gladii are only made with bone handles. Perhaps there is some kind of film over it. You can remove this with fine sanding paper and steel wool. Vale, Jef Re: Deepeeka Pompeii Gladius - Virilis - 09-26-2006 There is also a very bone-like material called "Micarta", which is often used as a substance of bone/horn.... Re: Deepeeka Pompeii Gladius - FAVENTIANVS - 09-26-2006 If you disassemble it you'll See that is made of bone. |
