Rubicon: triumph and tragedy of roman republic - Goffredo - 07-07-2006

WOW WOW WOW
Great book. I am reading it in italian and am about half way thru. Very exciting and informative. Learning much, re-learning and even un-learning too. I have great admiration for the writer too. I am thinking of ordering it in english.

He has since written another book, 'Persian Fire' about the events leading up to Salamis and Marathon, and is writing his third book about the beginning of the Middle Ages.

Celer.

Yes, an excellent book. Well written -- a fast read.

I had thought that is would be a great basis for a TV series, but HBO went in another direction. More's the pity... Sad

Perhaps next time a network has a yen for things Roman they will consider this book as their guide.

Have ordered Persian Fire and will start reading it when it arrives.
