For my impressions where I don't have proper swords I use some deepeeka ones (I've 3 of them at the moment), but I prefer to have blades made by european craftsman I can trust and I know they are well made. At the moment my good ones are by eiter Robert Wimmers, Pavel Marek or Vincenzo Pastorelli. I don't have the money for a Konig or Barta blade, unfortunatelly, but I'm thinking of saving some more to get one by the smith Christian Koepfer recently posted on here. That are also very nice blades (and pattern welded Big Grin )

euhm, as I live in the Netherlands, that's hard to do. I'm just a student and I can't afford coming over to England as many times as I would want. But yeah, maybe I'll show up at some of their events another time. At least Harry and Thomas want me to come over again. We will see wat future bring. At least I'm in York again early next februari to give a talk at the RAT conference and drink some beer.

Can someone please tell me how these spathae are?
http://www.aurificina.treverica.de/en/index.html

I see their blades are not pattern welded although the price is almost in range of Barta's swords, whose blades are pattern welded...

Also how long do you have to wait for a sword (e.g. one of Barta - they certainly look very nice!)?

About 3 years for a Barta sword.

Re: Where\'s the best place to get a 3rd/4th Century Spatha - Kai - 12-12-2010

Thanks for the info! That is quite some time... I think I have to look elsewhere in that case, unless of course that is the usual waiting time (in this league) :?

Kai, the Aurificina Treverica blades are pattern welded, if the originals are so as well.
However, Kai, the blades by XorX are among the most accurate ones you can get (also in terms of metallurgy), and a tad cheaper. If you want to contact him, lmk.
