Balsamarium in the Form of a Boxer\'s Head - Nemonius Agricola - 11-30-2008

I was at the Getty Villa in Malibu today and saw the new acquisition to the collection of sports. I was impressed by his expression that caused his muscles in his face to stand out along his jaw, cheeks, neck, temples and forehead. I was wondering about his "helmet" he had on his head. This is the first time I have seen a boxer with a helmet on. Has anyone else seen something like this before.

Why is this identified as a boxer? The detail I can see doesn't suggest "cauliflower" ears and his nose certainly doesn't look flattened. The headdress resembles that worn by a flamen, though this would have to be a mean-looking priest.

You mean the cauliflower ear on this one.
