Arbeia & Segedunum Roman Forts , 16/17 August - John Conyard - 08-12-2008

Comitatus are sending two very elite and good looking 4th century cavalrymen, plus infantry targets, to Arbeia Roman fort, South Shields, on the 16th August, and Segedunum Roman fort at Wallsend on the 17th August.

We'll be doing two formal shows per day at 1 pm and 3 pm. However the 10 am practice may be of passing interest.

Photos from the weekend can be viewed at:-

The weather was kind except for a very heavy rain storm just before one afternoon display at Segedunum. I have never performed in such wet conditions. My horse stopped at one point to admire a new water course running through the arena. It was very slippery.

The staff at both museums were excellent and the crowds were very interesting to talk to. Even with the doubtful weather, the staff at Segedunum had never seen the site so busy. The horses always are a great draw for the crowds.

Wish I had been able to keep your invitation John! Work intervened... Smile

One day it will hapen.

Some of our cavalry are performing near Falkirk in September. That may be the deep south for you.
